Gymnastics

The boys are taking a Tumbling Class through city rec.  It is on Friday evenings and has been really fun. Brady's class is first and they are learning to do handstands and cartwheels and have a lot of fun doing new things with their bodies.
Tanner and Colt are 2 of 3 boys in their class.  They are learning to strengthen muscles their backs and shoulders doing forward and back rolls, bridges and tables, cartwheels, round-offs, and handstands.

I had high hopes the the boys were be real gymnasts, and the coach would approach me after class and ask if she could be a personal coach to my naturally talented boys.  But after the first class, I realized that while they are lucky to have Dave in them, they have too much me to ever be an Olympian!!

4 months old

Our little girl is 4 months old!  I can't believe how fast time flies.  She weighs 13.11 lbs and is getting quite solid. Tonight I went through her drawers and took out all the size 0-3 clothes.  It makes me want to cry because she didn't wear some of them hardly at all.  And they are so cute!  And today we opened the size 2 diapers too.  It breaks my heart how fast she grows.  She is very stong and holds her body up and likes to stand.  She can also roll from her tummy to her back.

Sabree LOVES her mama. She prefers me over anyone, and is quite spoiled and wants to be held ALL the time.  She has been very grumpy, but is starting to talk and be fun.  She has discovered her tongue and loves to stick it out.  She also likes to suck on her fingers when she finds them to her mouth.  She has always been okay with a binky, but I bought new ones and now she isn't sure she wants a binky that is stiff and new.  So, I hope we don't lose the "used" ones.

Sabree is VERY ticklish.  She giggles and squirms when she is tickled on her tummy or legs.  She likes to talk and is quite noisy.  She gets louder and louder the closer she gets to being mad.

Sabree's hair is also starting to grow.  It is kind of fuzzy like a baby duck.  I love it.  It has a very red tint to it, so I am excited to see what color it is going to come in.  Her eyelashes are growing long too.  She is so pretty.  Her eyes aren't very blue anymore.  There is more and more "brownish" to them, and we aren't sure what color they are going to be.  It breaks her Daddy's heart.  He was really hoping for blue.

Mammoth Bones

There is a gal in our ward that has started a non-profit organization to help educate kids and give them hands on experience in paleontology.  Four years ago she started this group when they came upon mammoth bones.  We got to go out and see this awesome find.  It is a Columbia Mammoth and it is 17,430 years old.  They think that it either died in the last ice age due to lack of grass or was washed away by the flood.  It was so cool to see this.  I don't know who was more excited, me or the boys, but it was awesome to participate in.
This is a Columbia Mammoth tusk, but not the one uncovered here.

Bones between thet buckets.  I think this is a rib.

I thought it was a Woolly Mammoth, but it is a Columbia Mammoth.  They look more elephant like but are much larger.

This the the washing station.  Everything they take from the site gets washed and sifted through for bones and other matter, and then the dirt is saved in bags to be analyzed as well.

Some Favorites

Sabree loves baths.  And she loves Tanner.  So a bath with Tanner is awesome!
Sabree loves to stand up.  She is very strong.  And she likes to be naked.  So standing up naked-ish is the best!

Sabree likes to get dressed up. (or maybe mom just likes to play dress up!) When you have as many clothes as this little girl, you have to play dress up!

And Sabree loves her Crazy Brothers!!

Soccer

Colton has been playing soccer this Fall.  It has been really fun to play soccer on a real team, not just city rec.  We are playing with the South Hills Church program, and there are a few kids from our ward that play too, one of them is on Colt's team.  Colt looks so handsome in his soccer uniform.  He has practice on Thursday nights, and the games are every Saturday morning through October.  Colton is having a very fun time playing.  He runs around the field giggling nearly the whole time.  At times it is simply "magnet ball" that the kids play, but some of the kids grasp the concept and they keep the game going.

Preschool

Despite my concerns and hesitations, Brady is doing preschool with the little group his friends are in.  And, much to my surprise, he LOVES it!  He gets so excited to go to school, and he is delighted to come home and show everyone what he made or is learning.  My little boy is growing up.
(The first day of preschool was 9-11, hence the flag in the background.)

Back to School!

We have had a SUPER fun summer, and I am stoked to have the kids back in school!!

Tanner is in 2nd grade this year and has Mrs. Crandall.  He knows a few of the kids in his class from years previous, and our little neighbor girl that is his friend is in there too.  We don't know much about Mrs. Crandall, but she told the kids she has been teaching for 24 years, so I guess she knows what she is doing. (We hope anyway)

Colt is in 1st grade and has Mrs. Korson, who was Tanner's teacher last year, and we love her.  I am so excited that we get her again this year.  There aren't any kids in his class from the ward or neighborhood, but he doesn't seem to care.  He is excited to follow in Tanner's path and have the same teacher.

The boys have been walking to and from school.  There is a group of 5 kids in our neighborhood that walk together and as mom's we take turns helping them cross the busy street.  We meet them at the corner and make sure we don't have any problems.  It is working out great.

Braden is going to do a mom-teach preschool.  I have been really hesitant, but I was kind of pressured into it, and I think it will be fine.  I am not going to push anything, so if we have a lazy morning and don't make it, I am not going to worry about it.  We are doing a professional curriculum called Mother Goose Time and I am really impressed and excited.  They give you all the material and such from the story and game and calendar for circle time to the craft project, writing sheets, and subjects.  Very cool.  We will start that next week.  And it might be nice to only have Sabree for 2 hours twice a week.

I have also started to watch a little boy 2 times a week for 3 hours each time.  Vincent is 3 like Braden and they so far have played well.  I decided that it will be good for Brady to have someone to play with, plus who couldn't use a couple extra bucks each week.

As much as I love summer and all the fun, I am grateful to be back into a normal routine, and man could my house use a little attention.
