Happy Birthday to Davey

Dave is an OLD man now....a whopping 36!  We celebrated with brownies on the night before his birthday because he wanted to go to Texas Roadhouse on his birthday and we would all be too full to eat a birthday treat.  We are sure lucky to have the best Daddy in the world!

Oh Toothfairy....

Braden and Colton have been losing teeth.  Braden has lost teeth sooner than his other brothers.  He is so excited to have a tooth pulled and lets Dave pull on a wiggly tooth before it is really loose enough.  It is fun that Colt and Braden lost teeth at the same time.

Dog Lake Marathon

I had the opportunity to help organize a marathon with my friend Ashley Stratton for Brian Anderson.  Brian started this marathon 3 years ago because he wanted to, but it is too much for one person to manage and he asked Ashley and I to help this year.  We were able to do some great advertising, get social media involved, contact businesses about sponsorship, organize volunteers, put out fliers, save money on shirts, order signage and hire a photographer.  In the years past there were 50-60 runners, and this year we maxed out at 100 a month before the deadline.  It was fantastic.

Mom came to stay with the kids while I went to the marathon.  Dave was still in harvest.  It had been a rainy and cold week, but the morning of the race was beautiful and everything went almost perfectly as planned.  We took good notes and are excited to make it even better next year.

An awesome garden

We had a pretty awesome garden this year.  The kids helped plant and weed and take care of it, and Braden was SO excited for his carrots to be ready to pick.  He went out nearly every week all summer to check and see if they were big enough, and it was a definite celebration when they were big enough.  Sabree loved eating the carrots dipped in ranch.  We also had a lovely crop of crenshaws, zucchini, cucumbers, pumpkins, and more beans than we could use.  Our strawberries were pretty awesome as well.  They were so sweet and delicious and Sabree couldn't get enough of them.  Since this was their first year their wasn't a ton at a time, but we picked a handful every couple days which is perfect for eating.  My 6 tomato plants were great too.  I had enough to trade with the neighbor for eggs, plus I made multiple batches of pizza sauce and mandarin sauce.
