A fun get away

Our friends and boat partners, the Strattons, invited us to go with them to Heyburn State Park to stay in a friend's cabin and play on the Coeur 'd Alene Lake with our boat for the 4th of July weekend.  We left Thursday after a tasty 4th breakfast with Platts and Webbs and got there mid afternoon.  It was such a wonderful time.   The first morning we went for a walk across an old train bridge that has been converted into a walking/biking path.  Sabree slept the whole time which was a really good thing.

The area was beautiful, the temps were perfect, and although the water was a bit choppy for wake boarding, the kids had a great time tubing or kayaking or playing in the water and sand.  The cabin was perfect for our 2 families and the weekend was just what we needed.

The last night we had a crazy experience.  Tanner hadn't been feeling good. He had a headache and neck ache most of the day and was exhausted from sunshine and late nights.  He crashed before the other kids.  In the middle of the night we could hear someone trying to open the door.  Luckily is is hard to open and it woke us up.  Dave sat up and said, "who is that?"  "Tanner."  Dave asked him where he was going and he said Deer Park, which is where some friends just moved to.  Why?  He said he needed to get the boat.  Dave had him come get in bed with him and he would lay there, then sit up and mumble under his breath and twitch.  He kept talking about volcanoes and lava and was obviously not in his right mind.  Although it was kind of funny, and I kept giggling, I was kind of freaked out. I wondered if he had had a stroke or was possessed or what was going on.   Then I remembered that my little brother would sometimes sleep walk if he needed to go to the bathroom.  Dave asked Tanner if he needed to go to the bathroom and he said no and then something about lava.  Dave asked if he could carry him to the bathroom and he agreed.   After that he did finally go back to sleep laying between Dave and I, after much more twitching. I finally got up and slept on the couch in Tanner's place.  That morning Tanner remembered having a dream about lava, but that was all he remembered. I am convinced he was sleep walking, and am so grateful that door was hard to get open.  Who knows where he would have gone!

Looks like fun, nice pictures! We would have loved to have Tanner come here and get a boat. I don't know which one he wold have taken, but it would have been fun to see him. Of course it would have been bit of a walk coming from CDA. :)
